Bianco Carrara

In co-operation with architects Antoine Dugardyn and Buro Interior, the inside of the existing building was restyled in a creative and modern way. The most eye-catching feature is undoubtedly the bright red reception desk which is effectively the only real colour in the whole of the interior. The flooring, walls and decoration have been designed using a neutral white-grey colour pallette to reflect a sober business environment.

The existing stair in the renowned Italian marble, Bianco Carrara, was preserved and this marble was continued in the use of the floor tiles. Marmocer tiles from Beltrami were used to demonstrate that although typically a traditional type of marble - Bianco Carrara is equally applicable for a modern setting.

Pascal Rommel, Beltrami’s technical manager says: ”Marmocer tiles combine a basic layer of 4mm of pure marble with a ceramic backing. This allows us to offer marble in large formats such as 60 x 60 avoiding the risk of breakages which can occur with a full body marble in this size.” Moreover, Marmocer guarantees an easy installation process since the tiles are only 12 mm thick and are bonded directly on the concrete floor/screed or wall. The tiles are easy to handle thanks to their lightness and are ideal for renovations. In addition to that, Marmocer is an interesting alternative for large ‘cut-to-size’ Carrara pieces seen from a price perspective.
